We are looking forward to our third season and have some new technologies that we have tested over the last year. New resins, tools and materials. We are always pushing ourselves further in the shop and in the mountains to test and build the best products possible. We are committed to helping people have a great time on their skis.
We are pleased to announce that we have found a US manufacturer for our wood cores. All of our cores will now be full length Red Oak and Birch. They are made in Oregon and are a 9 ply A-1 grade horizonatal laminate. We had been using a 9 ply BB grade Baltic Birch from a European company, but could only get it in 60"x60" lengths. The new cores will be of a much higher quality, are FSC certified, use no urea formaldehyde, and have LEED credits. These cost more than twice what the old cores did, but we feel it is worth the extra cost to lower our carbon footprint and to support as much local manufacturing as we can. We will still be using a UHMW tip and tail fill to increase impact resistance and added durability. This will only be in the first 12cm of tip and last 6cm of tail.
We will also be utilizing a very light weight, thin weave kevlar between the base material and the core. This will be in all skis from now on in conjuction with fiberglass and VDS. It will run from the tip to tail and from edge to edge. Kevlar is an exceptionally strong material for its weight. It will help to add more durability, strength, and increased dampness to the skis.
All of this adds up to new pricing, better skis and more fun. Our skis will now start at $500.00USD
We work one-on-one with each client to design and build a customized pair of skis starting at $500. Or, let us do the work for you and choose one of our pre-designed models with your custom graphics.
The Ullr Skis manufacturing facility is located in beautiful McCall, Idaho, an ideal place to build and test skis. All of our skis are 100% handcrafted in the U.S. with 98% U.S. made materials and leave our shop with a Wintersteiger stone grind, hot wax and are ready to rip.
We can now take most major credit cards. We can only take them over the phone or in person, but welcome the chance to talk to you about your skis. Thanks to https://squareup.com/ for making this affordable for small businesses. We are also proud to announce our new partnership with http://appleply.com/ as our new wood core supplier. ApplePly is based out of Eugene Oregon and has been working hard to make products to the very highest standard. We are very excited to have Entropy as our epoxy supplier. This new resin is non petroleum based and is made utilizing renewable feedstock. Just one more way we are trying to do our part.
